Writing Sci-Fi and Fantasy Essays
Writing Sci-Fi and Fantasy EssaysOne of the reasons I feel that I write very good science fiction and fantasy stories is that, in addition to keeping a very detailed scientific basis for the stories, I also tend to break the plots up into specific story arcs. I have a bit of a nerd streak when it comes to this, and it has served me well for over a decade. One story arc I like to use is called the first act, and it's where I jump into the story. In this arc, I find the characters and establish some basic relationships before setting out to tell the story. I'll often throw in a cliffhanger in the first act, so that the reader has to come back in the second act for resolution. The second story arc I use is the second act. It's where I set up the main conflict and give some details about the people involved. If you've read my sci-fi stories, you'll know that I also do that in order to enhance the plot and add to the entertainment value. It may seem as if I'm using these two essay topics in opposition to each other, but the truth is that I like to use them in conjunction with each other. You see, when I write, I always have a general idea in my head of how I want to end the story. And after I do an outline, I typically figure out what characters need to be in the action at various points in the story.Once I get into a second story arc, I may begin to see places where the story might run out, and I may need to go back and add a plot twist or action scene or both. In this case, I can throw in the first act arc so that it doesn't interfere with the second act plot, and I can get a bit more inventive with the characters and the setting. This is a pretty basic outline for writing a short essay about science fiction and fantasy. When you start to get really good at writing science fiction and fantasy, you'll begin to think up your own combinations. For example, you might want to add the first arc to the second act or vice versa. In general, I find that my readers are fascinate d by this kind of thinking and writing, and it's a very interesting thing to see. Another fun thing to do is to link the two essay topics together and weave them into an elaborate essay. That's pretty much my philosophy on writing science fiction and fantasy essays, and it's really worked out well for me.I hope you will continue to enjoy reading my sci-fi and fantasy work, because it's been one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done.
