Book 1 of the Republic is a narration by Socrates, somewhat the dialogue he has between several fellows including: Cephalus, Polemarchus, and ultimately Thrasymachus. The story begins with Socrates and Glaucon are leaving a celebration, when Polemarchus and his slave fascinate up to them and Polemarchus invites Socrates over to talk. It is obvious from the very beginning how others honor the intellectual abilities of Socrates, by the how hard they persuade him in to procession shot over for a chat. Socrates first begins talking with Cephalus, experience of Polemarchus, or so life, age and wealth. Cephalus is intrigued by Socrates and asks him to come over to communication much often. Cephalus consequently begins to rant about aging and how most people, that age, reminisce about younger times and grow increasingly more than miserable over the fact that they can no eternal have sex. Cephalus hence goes on to say how he is merry that he no longer has sex ual desires and feels exchangeable he is free to ponder and not be burthen with modern urges. Cephalus argues that older age is surprisingly tranquil and peaceful, scarce admits that he has been unable to convince any of his older counterparts his position. Socrates is interest by his argument and then goes on to question Cephalus by suggesting that perchance the great wealth inherited by Cephalus was promising the soil why he was at peace with his age, then stating insinuating that without money and wealth, Cephalus, would likely not have the same view. Cephalus then goes on to admit that perhaps Socrates is right. The conversation, next, turns in to a word of honor about justice, but Cephalus, appears to back down and invite his news Polemarchus to count with Socrates. It is the belief of Polemarchus that justice is merely giving troops what he deserves. Polemarchus is completely out-classed by Socrates and is quick to submit to Socrates.
